What if artificial intelligence could help cities manage traffic, enhance public safety, and even improve physical therapy—all without invading your privacy? That’s exactly the kind of future VisionCraft is building. VisionCraft is an AI-driven technology company that specializes in non-invasive computer vision solutions for intelligent transportation systems and healthcare. Their mission is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI innovation and real-world impact, empowering local governments, businesses, and healthcare providers to make smarter, data-informed decisions. In this interview, we sit down with Robert Pinkas, Founder & CEO of VisionCraft and Dale Hendon, Director of U.S. Operations to discuss the story behind the company and the people.

Q1: Could you tell us a little bit about your company?

Robert: VisionCraft is an AI-powered technology company focused on computer vision solutions that enhance mobility, safety, and healthcare. We leverage edge processing to deliver real-time insights for intelligent transportation systems and healthcare applications—most notably through VisioTherapy, our remote physical therapy platform powered by AI. What sets us apart is our emphasis on privacy-safe, non-invasive technology. We equip local governments, businesses, and healthcare providers with tools to make smarter, data-driven decisions—improving quality of life, optimizing resources, and increasing operational efficiency. Our solutions are already deployed in the EU, and we’re now expanding into the U.S. through strategic partnerships and pilot programs.

Dale: At VisionCraft, our mission is to bridge the gap between AI innovation and real-world challenges. Whether it’s helping cities improve pedestrian safety and curbside management without major infrastructure changes, or enabling physical therapists to deliver more effective remote care, we believe in practical, scalable applications of AI. We take a collaborative approach—working hand-in-hand with municipalities, healthcare providers, and industry leaders to ensure our solutions are aligned with real needs and deliver tangible benefits.

Q2: What inspired you to start your own company?

The idea for VisionCraft stemmed from a firsthand understanding of the inefficiencies in mobility, safety, and healthcare—sectors where gaps in service can have a real impact on people’s lives. With a background in smart city development and entrepreneurship, I saw how AI-driven computer vision could address these challenges without the need for expensive equipment or invasive data collection. Many existing solutions on the market were too complex, too costly, or failed to respect privacy—leaving a clear opportunity to do things differently.

In healthcare, particularly physical therapy, we noticed an unmet need for remote care options that didn’t rely on wearables or motion-capture systems. The pandemic only accelerated the demand for accessible digital health tools. By applying the same AI principles we used in transportation to the healthcare space, we created a solution that’s accurate, secure, and easy to use—empowering both therapists and patients.

Q3: What previous experiences influence your role today?

Robert: Throughout my career, I’ve led teams developing and selling software solutions, and I’ve also founded companies. Together with one of our co-founders, Michal—who brings deep expertise in AI, data analytics, hardware design, and systems engineering—we’ve built a small but highly skilled team of 12 people. I’ve learned that real-world impact comes from designing technology that solves actual problems. In mobility, for example, that means creating tools that integrate with existing infrastructure instead of requiring a complete overhaul. At VisionCraft, we focus on developing computer vision solutions that deliver immediate value and are easy to adopt.

Dale: My background is in economic development, smart city planning, and entrepreneurship, which has given me a unique lens on how to bring innovation into the public sector. I’ve worked closely with governments, startups, and business leaders to identify areas for sustainable growth. That experience shapes how we approach strategy at VisionCraft—ensuring that our solutions are not just innovative, but also implementable, scalable, and aligned with community needs. Navigating regulations, building trust, and securing funding are all part of the equation, and I help position the company to thrive in those environments.

Q4: What are the biggest challenges you’ve encountered as a startup founder this far, and how did you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges has been the leap from concept to commercialization—particularly in a highly technical and competitive space. Building a great product is just the beginning. Educating potential customers, validating the market, earning trust, and establishing credibility all take time and persistence. As a Czech startup expanding into a new market like the U.S., that’s even more critical. We’ve tackled this by launching pilot programs and forging partnerships with municipalities and healthcare organizations to prove our technology in real-world settings.

Another challenge has been scaling while maintaining financial sustainability. Like many startups, we’ve had to be strategic—balancing growth with available resources. We’ve leaned on grants, partnerships, and early-stage pilots to build momentum without overextending. Staying lean, delivering clear value, and focusing on measurable outcomes have helped us attract support and stay on track.

Q5: Do you have any mentors or role models who have inspired you while you have been building your business?

I’ve been lucky to have several mentors who’ve played a big role in shaping how I think about innovation and business. One of the key lessons I’ve learned is to always tie technology back to real-world problems—never innovate just for innovation’s sake. Mentorship has been a two-way street too; mentoring others in the startup ecosystem has helped me grow and stay grounded.

I also draw a lot of inspiration from colleagues and thought leaders in both the AI and business spaces—especially those who advocate for ethical, privacy-conscious development and long-term sustainability. Having people around me who challenge my thinking and provide honest feedback has been crucial to VisionCraft’s growth and direction.

Q6: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs and future startup founders based on your own experiences and lessons learned?

First and foremost—solve a real problem. It’s easy to fall in love with your technology or idea, but without a deep understanding of the market, even the best product can fail. Talk to potential users early, test your assumptions, and make sure there’s genuine demand before investing too heavily.

Second, resilience is everything. Startups come with inevitable setbacks, pivots, and surprises. The ability to adapt, stay focused, and keep pushing forward is what sets successful founders apart. Build a strong support network—mentors, advisors, and peers who can help you navigate the journey. And above all, stay mission-driven. If you care deeply about the problem you’re solving, that passion will carry you through even the toughest moments.
