A personal interview with Sait Borlak, CEO & Co-Founder of Sixfab.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: I have a few hobbies but I have two kids and most of my free time goes to playing with my kids.

Q: What’s your 30 second pitch?
A: Sixfab is creating a cellular connectivity platform for single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi. Our customers are mostly startups but we are gaining more small and medium businesses. Our platform includes software, hardware and sim card. With our platform, companies can easily develop reliable cellular-connected IoT projects.

Q: What Inspired you?
A: Before Sixfab, I started my first startup 11 years ago focused on selling electronics, DIY and maker tools locally. We’ve noticed that some customers require cellular connectivity tools for their single-board computer based projects. After that, we realized the gap in the market and created Sixfab to solve this need.

Q: What is your favorite part of being an entrepreneur?
A: I have worked for companies during my time at university. I didn’t enjoy it because you work so hard for a company that ultimately you do not own any part of. The hard work you do most of the time, in my experience, went unnoticed. I began my first startup when I was a student at the university. Sixfab is actually my fourth company, the second successful one. The majority of my work has been in companies that I have funded and I enjoy working for myself.

Q: Do you have any mentors who have guided you along the way?
A: I am a very coachable person. I have a network of people who have moved from Turkey and have started companies in the US so I love learning from the insights and advice that they constantly share. I speak with them often about how to be successful in the US.

Q: What advice do you have do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
A: The business that RIoT is doing is really wonderful. I haven’t found any accelerator program or community program that is strictly based on IoT. This is really nice because we are in the 5th week of the program but I have gotten so many insights and connections. I have met more people in these five weeks than I met in 1.5 years during the pandemic. It has been wonderful to expand my network. I am extremely thankful for RAP.
