And it’s hosting its first event in Charlotte next week. Still confused what the “Internet of Things” means? Executive director of RIoT, Tom Snyder, explains:
“It’s this concept of devices and really all kinds of physical objects that are being connected to the internet,” he said.
Snyder said the technology applies to many industries, including finance, education, medicine, transportation and more. North Carolina has the proper balance of these industries with startup innovation and creativity to help the IoT idea flourish, he said.
The networking and informational event on Aug. 2 is designed to bring the community together, to connect those who know about the industry with those who want to enter into it.
“We want everyone to recognize how big the IoT opportunity is and how easy it is to take advantage of that by working with the right group,” Snyder said.
